Five Teams in Collegiate Baseball Top 14 at South Regional, UWA Ranked 4th

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Five of the top 14 teams in the latest Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division II National Poll will be playing in the NCAA South Regional Thursday through Saturday at Tartt Field on the University of West Alabama campus.

West Alabama is ranked No. 4 in the nation and will host the tournament as the top seed. The Gulf South Conference regular season and tournament champions, UWA is 40-9 and has won 29 of its last 30 games. The Tigers will play Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Albany State Thursday at 3 p.m.

Nova Southeastern (38-11) is the No. 2 seed in the tournament and is ranked 6th nationally. The Sharks will meet fifth-seed Lynn (34-13-1), who is ranked 14th nationally in the first game of the regional tournament Thursday at 11 a.m.

The final game on opening day of the South Regional features Tampa (35-13) and Florida Tech (36-11), the third and fourth seeds respectively. Florida Tech is ranked No. 7 in the nation and Tampa is ranked eighth.

Tickets for the South Regional are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children aged 5 to 17. Those passes are good for the day of purchase only. Re-entry for the same day will be allowed with a hand stamp obtained when leaving the facility. A tournament pass is also available for $25.

Admission fees will be collected at two entrances to the Tartt Field complex. The preferred entrance for the tournament will be off Loop Road on the UWA campus with parking available in the field on top of the hill behind the outfield. Baseball fans can also enter through the normal Lake LU entrance, but that lot will be closed when full.
