Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tiger Men's Soccer Falls to Late Surge By Barry

LIVINGSTON, Ala. –  Barry University's Michael Dodds found the back of the net twice, including the game winning goal in the 79th minute to lead the Buccaneers to a 4-1 victory over West Alabama men's soccer at Tiger Stadium on Sunday.

The win lifts Barry to a 3-0-1 overall record and drops West Alabama to 1-3.

Dodds put the Bucs on the board first in the 42nd minute with his first goal of the season to give his team a 1-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Jean-Baptiste Meniel tied the match for the Tigers at 1-1 in the 57th minute with a goal off of a set piece from 19 yards out.

Following Dodds game winner, Barry added two more late goals from Manuel Perez and Patrick Drmola. The Buccaneers out-shot UWA 22-13. Despite allowing four goals, Tiger goalkeeper Brad Louis (1-3) set a career high of 10 saves, while Barry keeper Bo Haug (3-0-1) managed three saves.

"We had four individual errors that cost us four goals today," said UWA head coach Matthew Thorne.

"Barry is a very well organized and hard working side, so not to take anything away from them, but we need to have a hard look at ourselves. We fell apart late, but we need to absorb this and move on. It's better to go through this now than rather late in the season."

West Alabama men's soccer will return to action when they take on Upper Iowa on Friday in Jackson, Tenn. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. on the campus of Union University.
