LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team snapped a four match losing streak by sweeping Mississippi College 3-0 in Gulf South Conference action at Pruitt Hall Tuesday.

West Alabama improves to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the GSC. Mississippi College falls to 1-11 and 0-4. The Tigers controlled the match from set one, winning 25-19 without trailing. The Choctaws would only gain a lead once in each of the following two sets, as UWA went on to win 25-19 and 25-16.

"Coming off a tough start to our conference schedule, this was a big momentum swing for us," said UWA head coach
Jordan Lay.

"It was great to be back in front of our home crowd and have our fans show up to support us. This win is just another step forward for us and we have to continue to take it one step at a time. The GSC is a very tough conference and it's going to be a dog fight from start to finish this year."

Morgan Ray led the Tiger attack by hitting 15 kills in 25 attempts (.520 attack percentage). Freshman
Jaime Lancellot followed with 11 kills in 15 attempts (.733 percentage) as the two helped UWA to a combined .351 attack percentage.
Callie Murphy supported the attack with 28 assists.

The defense held the Choctaws to .149 attack percentage by tallying eight and half team blocks. Lancellot and
Briana Sandifer stifled MC's attack at the net with five block assists each.
Kimberly Hernandez led the team with 10 digs.

Kayana Mitchell posted 12 kills for Mississippi College, while Bailee Berringer and Sydney Chandler combined with 26 assists. The Choctaw's defense had only three total team blocks, with Jamila Biglow accounting for two solo blocks.
