CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Lee University volleyball grabbed its second Gulf South Conference victory, sweeping West Alabama 3-0 in a tight three sets at Walker Arena on Saturday.
The Flames improve to 5-7 overall, moving to 2-5 in GSC play. The Tigers drop to 10-6 on the season, falling to 3-4 in the conference.
After grabbing an 18-17 advantage on the fourth lead change of the set, Lee outscored West Alabama 7-6 to close out a 25-23 win in set one.
The Flames secured a 2-0 advantage with a 25-21 victory in the second set, combining for a .157 attack percentage while holding the Tigers to .119 in LU's most-decisive triumph of the day.
Lee trailed for most of the third set until finally moving ahead 18-17 on a kill by Silvia Santori. The Tigers fought back to tie at 25-25 before the Flames claimed the final two points to complete the sweep.
Briana Sandifer recorded nine kills to lead the West Alabama attack, while
Taylor Parrish tallied a season-high 26 assists on the day.
Abby Ames totaled 18 digs to lead UWA's defense, followed by
Yanesha Johnson with 14 digs.
Santori led the Flames' attack with 13 kills. Brooke Wilsman also recorded double-digit kills, picking up 10 in the match. Makayla Beebe led Lee defensively with 20 digs.
The Tigers will continue on the road, facing off against Alabama Huntsville on Tuesday. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
