Three Tigers Scored in Double Figures as Tigers Cruise to Win over AUM

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Freshman Jenna Bradberry led three West Alabama scorers in double figures with 19 points as the Tigers cruised to a 70-38 women's college basketball victory over Auburn Montgomery Saturday at Pruitt Hall Gym.

Chloe Culpepper chipped in 16 points and Ariel Wilson 11 more as West Alabama won for the third time in its last four outings to even its record at 3-3. AUM dropped to 1-8 with the loss.

From Bishop, Georgia, Bradberry converted 6-of-9 from the floor and 6-of-8 from the free throw line on her way to career high scoring effort. Culpepper was also 6-of-9 from the field as West Alabama shot 43 percent.

"Jenna has a terrific career ahead of her. She is picking up the college game quicker than most freshmen," UWA head coach Rusty Cram said. "Chloe keeps separating herself from our other post players and keeps getting better."

UWA limited AUM to just 1-of-10 shooting in the first quarter, leading 16-3 after the first 10 minutes. The Tigers extended the defensive pressure into the second period, not allowing the Warhawks to score from 7:39 in the first to 7:31 in the second quarter.

West Alabama led by as many as 24 points in the first half on the way to building a 34-9 advantage at intermission. UWA limited AUM to just 3-of-24 shooting in the first half and outrebounded the Warhawks by 15 in the first 20 minutes.

AUM rallied to outscore the Tigers in the third quarter, but it was a case of too little, too late as the Tigers stretched the lead to 36 points with 4:17 left to play. The Tigers utilized a season-high 19 assists and outrebounded the Warhawks 51-29 on the way to the win.

"I was really pleased with our effort as we continue to grow up," Cram said. "Fannasy Garrett-Hammond did a great job today handling the point with Peyton Parker out."

Aleksandra Trisic and Danielle Gaines-Jordan scored seven points apiece to lead Auburn Montgomery. Trisic had five rebounds.

Kierra Groce collected a career-best nine rebounds to lead West Alabama, while Fannassy Garrett-Hammond, Wilson and Culpepper had six boards each.

West Alabama takes next week off for final exams before starting Gulf South Conference play Dec. 12 at home against West Georgia.
