WOMEN'S RECORDS
West Alabama is 4-6 overall, 1-2 in Gulf South Conference play. Shorter is 3-5 overall, 2-1 in GSC play.
 
LAST WOMEN'S MEETING
Shorter defeated West Alabama, 75-61, in Rome, Georgia on Feb. 13 of last season. Taylor Adams scored 20 points for Shorter in the win and Shakierya McClendon chipped in 15. Ariel Wilson led UWA with 14 points, followed by Sydney King with 13 and Catherine Taylor with 12.
 
MEN'S RECORDS
West Alabama is 5-4 overall, 0-3 in GSC play. Shorter is 8-1 overall, 2-1 in the league.
 
LAST MEN'S MEETING
Phil Taylor and Trevor McDade combined for 53 points to lead Shorter to a 94-81 win over West Alabama Feb. 13, 2016 in Rome, Georgia. Simeon Dennis led UWA with 23 points, followed by Deontaye Ewing with 17 and Acie Vance with 16 points. The Tigers and Hawks split last season's two meetings, with each team winning at home.


NOTEWORTHY
The leading men's scorer in the GSC, Phil Taylor of Shorter, comes to Pruitt Hall Saturday. Taylor averages 37.8 points per game. He poured in 52 against Mississippi College on Dec. 17 and 62 against Carver Bible on Nov. 28.

Phil Taylor has scored at least 30 points in six games for the Hawks this season and has been named GSC player of the week three times.

The Shorter women also feature the GSC's top scorer, Taylor Adams, who averages 22.8 points per game. Adams is also second in the GSC in rebounds at 12.4.

UWA's Ariel Wilson is 10th in the league in scoring at 14.4 per game and fourth in the GSC in free throw percentage at 85 percent (47-55).

Shorter's women have won four straight against West Alabama.

West Alabama's non-conference schedule is done for the 2016-17 season after the men won and the women lost on Thursday at Auburn Montgomery.

UWA women's post player Chloe Culpepper scored a career-high 19 points in the Tigers loss at AUM on Thursday.

The West Alabama men lead the Gulf South Conference in scoring defense, allowing just 63.7 points per game. The Shorter men average scoring 87.0 points per game.

The UWA men also lead the league in field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to make just 39 percent from the floor (202-515).

Gavin Robinson's 10.2 rebounds per game is second in the GSC. His 92 total rebounds also leads the league.

Sean Cranney is tied for the GSC lead with 4.9 assists per game and Dominique Alexander leads the league in blocked shots with 2.7 per game (24 total).

The West Alabama women are third in the GSC in scoring defense, allowing just 58.4 points per game.
