CLINTON, Miss. - West Alabama volleyball won in three straight sets for the second match in a row, sweeping Mississippi College 3-0 in the A.E. Wood Coliseum on Saturday.
The Tigers move to 9-4 overall on the season, improving to 3-2 in Gulf South Conference action. The Choctaws fall to 7-6, dropping to 1-5 in league play.
"Adversity was at its finest today," UWA head coach
Alexis Meeks said. "Mississippi College played such a fantastic game, and it took everything we had to find a way to win."
"All games aren't going to be walks in the park, but if you can come together and persevere, that's when you see the real growth. We have lots to learn from, but I'm very proud of this team once again."
UWA earned the GSC victory, taking the first set 25-23, the second set 25-18 and the third set 25-23.Â
Briana Sandifer led the Tigers on offense and defense, posting 10 kills and 18 digs in her tenth double-double performance of the season.
Abby Ames followed Sandifer, recording 14 digs for the UWA defense.Â
Madsion Frazier led the Choctaws' attack with seven kills while Madison Kimes totaled 18 digs to lead Mississippi College defensively. Shelby Grace Mays followed with 11 digs.
West Alabama will continue on the road, facing off against Miles College on Tuesday. First Serve is set for 6 p.m.
