Box Score FAIRFIELD, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team picked up its third win in-a-row, sweeping Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Miles College 3-0 at Knox-Windham Gym on Tuesday.
The Tigers improve to 10-4 on the season, while the Golden Bears fall to 5-12 overall.
"Tonight was a fun match," UWA head coach
Alexis Meeks said. "Everyone got a chance to see the court, and we got to implement a lot of what we have been working on."
"Still, we can always make improvements, and we are anxious to get back in the gym tomorrow so we can prepare for this weekend."
Not only is this the third consecutive victory for the Tigers, but it is also their third sweep in as many games as they defeated the Golden Bears in three straight sets 25-14, 25-18 and 25-10.
West Alabama dominated throughout, combining to hit a .415 attack percentage while holding Miles to -.033. The Tigers were especially dominant in the third set, outhitting the Golden Bears .519 to -.043.
Briana Sandifer led the UWA attack, posting 17 kills on 25 total attacks to hit a season-high .640 attack percentage.
Liz Woodard and
Taylin McCarver each recorded .583 attack percentages on the night. Woodard tallied nine kills in the match, followed by McCarver with eight kills.
Abby Ames finished with 13 digs to lead the Tigers on defense.
Alexus Moore totaled four kills, leading the Golden Bears' offense. Skylar Johnson and Kamara Daughtry combined for 10 digs, each with five.
The Tigers will continue on the road, returning to Gulf South Conference action against Shorter on Friday. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
