Tigers continue winning ways with victory over Union

LIVINGSTON, Ala.— Not one, not two, not three but it's seven straight victories for the West Alabama Tigers after defeating the Union Bulldogs 5-0 Friday night in Gulf South Conference action.

UWA improves to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in GSC play. Union falls to 3-8 overall and 3-5 in conference.

Five different Tigers found the back of the net starting with Gaspard Voituriez-Donnelly at the 38:21 mark who scored his fourth of the year off an assist by Alvaro Macias Raimundo. Then in the second half Raimundo assisted Brador, his seventh of the season, to put UWA up 2-0 with 50:32 passed.

Then UWA scored three goals in a span of seven minutes starting Jean-Baptiste Meyniel's goal at the 72:42 mark off an assist by Cole Webster. Webster then scored his first collegiate goal with 78:53 passed. At the 79:34 mark, Manuel Pereira Castellon found the back of the net for the first time in his collegiate career as well off an assist from Kyle McLeod to give UWA the final 5-0 lead.

Both teams came out aggressive, but the Tigers finished with the edge in shots outpacing the Bulldogs 20-18. Liam Ireland took the most shots with five, but Brador was more accurate going 3-for-4 with shots-on-goal. Brad Louis came away with five saves in the contest.

Prior to the match, UWA honored nine seniors most of whom have been with the program through winning three consecutive GSC Championships. Those seniors include Louis, Raimundo, Ireland, Pablo Ferrios, Jamie Cox, Pattrick Carroll, Stephen Carroll, Keegen McQueen and Erik Rivera.

The Tigers face another monumental test Sunday afternoon as they host Christian Brothers in a matchup of two teams perched upon the top of the GSC standings with that game scheduled to start at 3 p.m. Union will travel to Alabama-Huntsville on Oct. 15.
