Men’s Soccer powers through Shorter in 6-0 win

ROME, Ga. – The West Alabama Tigers just keep rolling along after collecting the team's ninth straight victory in a road Gulf South Conference win over the Shorter Hawks, 6-0 Friday night.

UWA moves to 12-2 overall and 8-1 in the GSC. SU falls to 3-11 and 2-7 in the conference.

"Quality team performance tonight! The lads started off flying from the first whistle and we played some brilliant football at times," said Head coach Matthew Thorne. "We moved the ball and combined so well tonight. A 6-0 win in the GSC is never easy."

Ali Brador played a role in three straight goals for the Tigers scoring the second point on the day for UWA at 20:44 on an assist from Gaspard Voituriez-Donnelly, then unassisted at the 24:17 mark and finished with an assist to Manuel Pereira Castellon, his second goal of the year, at the 31:04 mark. The graduate student from Ronchin, France now sits at a team leading nine goals.

Reigning GSC Player of the Week Voituriez-Donnelly, five goals on the season, scored the first goal for UWA at the 8:39 mark off an assist from Harrison Roberts. Roberts later scored his third of the year with 62:22 passed thanks to an assist from Kyle McLeod, who scored his first goal of the season unassisted to cap scoring at the 70:17 mark.

The Tigers were dominant, outshooting Shorter 23-4 with Brador leading the way taking five shots, four of which registered as shots-on-goal.

"Now all of our focus is on Lee with a chance to win the regular season title," said Thorne.

UWA returns to action Sunday on the road in Cleveland, Tenn. against Lee University starting at 3 p.m. Shorter hosts Alabama-Huntsville on Oct. 22.
