Tigers win battle with VSU, 3-1

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The heavy road schedule early prepared the West Alabama Tigers properly as the team dropped the first set, but won the next three to take a 3-1 Gulf South Conference victory over the Valdosta State Blazers Friday night.

UWA (18-25, 25-21, 25-23, 28-26) improves to 15-9 overall and 7-1 in the GSC. VSU falls to 9-12 and 4-5 in the conference.

Briana Sandifer and McKaidan Moore both put up double digit kills to lead the Tiger attack as the senior Sandifer totaled 19 and the freshman Moore tallied 11. Kassie Till filled her role as the reigning GSC Freshman of the Week assisted the offense 41 times and even grabbed a kill of her own.

Moore led the team with 15 digs followed by Alex Fuelling with 14 and Elizabeth Carter notched 13. Jamie Lancellot led the frontline with four blocks.
