Late goal by Brador lifts Tigers over UAH, 1-0

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The West Alabama Tigers looked destined for another overtime game, but Ali Brador was in the right place at the right time and converted a blocked shot into the game winning goal over the University of Alabama in Huntsville in Gulf South Conference action.

UWA finishes the regular season 14-2 and 10-1 in the conference on an impressive 11-game winning streak. UAH falls to 8-6-2 and 7-2-2 in the GSC and will be the second seed in the GSC tournament.

Brador's 10th goal of the season came with 87:51 passed. The play started with a corner kick from Jean-Baptiste Meyniel, but Brador had his first shot off the kick blocked by UAH's Myles Fullen. Harrison Roberts took a shot off the rebound and Fullen was there once more before Brador's second shot hit the top of the crossbar and bounced in to give UWA the winning margin.

The Tigers outshot the hosting Chargers 18-12 and were led by Brador who took five shots, three of which registered as shots-on-goal. Roberts went 3-for-3 with shots-on-goal.

As the top seed, UWA has a first round bye and will play the winner of the fourth and fifth seed game at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Ala. Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m. Those two opponents have not been determined at the time of writing.
