Volleyball roars past Chargers in 3-0 victory

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Each set was hotly contested, but the West Alabama Tigers found what they needed to claim a 3-0, straight set victory over the visiting Chargers of Alabama in Huntsville in Gulf South Conference action.
 
UWA (25-22, 25-17, 27-25) continues its resurgent run through conference play improving 8-2 in the GSC and 6-10 overall. UAH falls to 19-10 and 7-4 in the conference.
 
Taylor Donato and Briana Sandifer both tallied double digit kills with 11 each and Bret Luther contributed with eight kills. Reigning two-time GSC Freshman of the Week Kassie Till passed 37 assists to keep the offense moving. As a unit, UWA posted a .223 attack percentage led by Donato's .346 percentage on 26 attacks.
 
Defensively, three Tigers recorded digs in the double digits with Rebecca Johnson leading the way with 14, Sandifer added 13 and Till made 11. Taylor Donato anchored the frontline with four blocks.
 
UWA returns to action Sunday in Pruitt Hall against the North Alabama Lions. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Livingston.
