Tigers drop home match to UNA, 3-1

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – It was another fierce competition between two top tier Gulf South Conference volleyball teams, but in the end the West Alabama Tigers fell at home for the first time this season in conference play to the North Alabama Lions, 3-1.
 
UWA (26-24, 16-25, 22-25, 23-25) falls to 16-11 and 8-3 in the GSC while the Lions improve to 22-6 overall and 10-2 in the conference.
 
Briana Sandifer led the Tigers with 16 kills, followed close by the sophomore Taylor Donato with 12. Bret Luther thundered down some powerful attacks and finished with seven kills. Two-time reigning GSC Freshman of the Week Kassie Till accumulated 44 assists to keep the offense moving and added five service aces and three kills of her own.
 
Rebecca Johnson paced the defensive effort with 15 kills while Till also finished with double digit digs at 10. Jamie Lancellot, Donato and Luther all had two blocks each.
 
UNA was led by Jessica Austin's 20 kills on a .630 hitting percentage. Lexie Bradley was right behind her with 19 while Jayden Davila-McClary finished with 50 assists.
 
The Tigers return to the road once more on Tuesday to face the Montevallo Falcons starting at 6 p.m. UNA travels to face Christian Brothers on Nov. 3.
