Tigers shine in home opening win over Oakwood, 95-67

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama Tigers show cased their high octane offensive prowess in their home opening 95-67 win over the Oakwood University Ambassadors Tuesday night in Pruitt Hall.
 
UWA improves to 2-1 with the win while OU falls to 2-5.
 
The Tigers were hot all night from the floor with a field goal percentage of 58.3 including going 41.2 percent from behind the arc.
 
The reigning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week Charles Eaton had another strong performance with 27 points to lead all scorers as well as five rebounds and three steals. The senior from Selma, Ala. scored 20 points in the first half as the Tigers raced to a 44-27 advantage in the period.
 
Gavin Robinson also finished in double digits with 13 points, going 7 of 11 from the free throw line, and added five rebounds and three assists. A trio of Tigers finished with nine points and include Sean Cranney, DeAndre Harper and Josh Fleming.
 
West Alabama out rebounded Oakwood 39 to 28 and converted 17 turnovers by the Ambassadors to 27 points.
 
Simeon Middleton scored 16 and Talik Talton scored 10 to lead OU.
 
UWA returns to action Thursday night in Livingston against Faulkner University out of Montgomery, Ala. Tipoff is set for 7:30 in Pruitt Hall.
