Hannah Martin Earns Triathlon All-America Honors

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama's Hannah Martin has earned 2017 College Triathlon Coaches Association All-America honors, the first All-America selection in the brief history of UWA Tiger Triathlon.

"I'm really excited for Hannah to receive this award. She is such a talented and hard-working athlete," UWA triathlon coach Allie Nicosia said. "She picked up on the sport of triathlon very quickly and was able to excel in the draft-legal racing format."

From Atlanta, Martin came to West Alabama to compete in triathlon as a graduate student after completing her career as a swimmer at Louisiana State University.

She picks up All-America honors in the first year that the coaches association has bestowed the awards. To make the All-America team, the triathlete had to finish in the top three of her division at the national championships. Martin was second among Division II varsity competitors.

"I'm glad that she was able to have such a successful year, particularly because she only had one year of eligibility left," Nicosia said. "I am excited to see how far she will take this sport as she continues to train."

In addition to the three from Division II, there were three more from Division I and three from Division III on the inaugural collegiate triathlon All-America team.
