Tigers grab straight set victory over MC

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama Tigers returned to their winning ways with a 3-0 straight set victory over the Mississippi College Choctaws in Pruitt Hall Saturday afternoon.
 
UWA (25-19, 25-15, 25-) improves to 17-12 overall and 9-4 in the Gulf South Conference while MC falls to 10-20 overall and 2-12 in conference play.
 
The win was a total team effort by the Tigers as four players finished within an earshot of the kills leaderboard. Jamie Lancellot and Taylin McCarver both totaled nine kills while usual leaders Briana Sandifer and Taylor Donato both collected nine kills. UWA finished with a .361 attacking percentage on the day
 
Three-time reigning GSC Freshman of the Week Kassie Till finished with 29 assists and Jordyn Beans recorded 10 assist. Till also registered three kills, two aces and a block.
 
Ashton King had seven kills to lead the Choctaws offensive effort.
 
UWA returns to action Tuesday with a GSC road match in Carrollton, Ga. against the West Georgia Wolves starting at 5 p.m. locally. Mississippi College will host Union in a conference match on Nov. 9.
