Tigers cruise to 101-58 over Lane College for sixth straight victory

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama Tigers built a 53-24 halftime lead and never looked back to collect a 101-58 victory over the Lane College Dragons Monday night in Pruitt Hall as the Tigers collected their sixth straight victory.
 
UWA improves to 9-2 overall and avenges a 79-70 loss to Lane College on Nov. 18 in Jackson Tenn. The Dragons fall to 3-5 on the season.
 
The Tiger defense stifled the Lane offense and held the visitors to just 29 percent from the floor and 19 percent from the behind the arc. UWA came away with six steals and six blocks led by Domonique Alexander's five swats.
 
West Alabama was equally impressive on offense with all five starters reaching double digit points. Charles Eaton led with 29 points and went 14 of 14 from the free throw line. The senior from Selma, Ala. also added four rebounds and two steals. Gavin Robinson went 10 of 11 from the charity stripe to finish with 16 points and added eight rebounds, two steals and an assist. Alexander notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Josh Fleming scored 11 and Sean Cranney contributed with 10 points, nine rebounds and eight assists and two steals while being a key ball handler against the Lane College full court press.
 
As a team, UWA shot 53 percent from the floor and went an impressive 37-45 from the free throw line which registers at 82 percent on the night.
 
The Tigers will finish the 2017 portion of the schedule on the road, first with a trip to Pensacola to take on the West Florida Argonauts Saturday evening.
