Eaton and Fleming combine for 57, Tigers fall to Valdosta State on the road

VALDOSTA, Ga.Charles Eaton tied his season high with 37 points and Josh Fleming scored 24, but the West Alabama Tigers could not overcome the Valdosta State Blazers and fell 80-73 on the road in Gulf South Conference Men's basketball action.
 
The second straight loss for UWA drops the Tigers to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in the GSC. Valdosta State improves to 9-2 and 2-1 in the conference.
 
VSU had an answer for every UWA run and never let the game get within eight points until the very last seconds of the game.
 
Along with his 37 points, Eaton grabbed four rebounds and made four steals and dished two assists. Domonique Alexander led the Tigers with nine rebounds and added six points and two blocks.
 
Three VSU players scored in double-digits led by KJ James who scored 24 and snagged nine boards. Beau Justice scored 16 and Jimmy Kodet added 10 points.
 
Valdosta State shot above their conference leading three-point average and went 42.3 percent from behind the arc on 11 of 26 shots.
 
UWA will have the winter break to regroup and prepare for the Montevallo Falcons on Thursday, Jan. 4 in Pruitt Hall. Tipoff is currently scheduled for 7:30 in Livingston and will be broadcast live on ESPN 104.9.
