Little’s Four Hits Leads Tigers to 15-3 Win at Georgia Southwestern

AMERICUS, Ga.Dylan Little was a home run away from hitting for the cycle, collecting four hits, to lead West Alabama to a 15-3 college baseball victory over Georgia Southwestern Sunday at Hurricanes Stadium.

The win increases West Alabama's (5-2) modest win streak to four games. The Tigers defeated Kentucky Wesleyan in the first game of a split-doubleheader at Hurricane Stadium earlier Sunday. GSW (3-2) dropped its second straight game.

West Alabama rapped out 16 hits, giving the Tigers 36 in a sweep of the split doubleheader. In addition to Little's prowess in the win over GSW, Josh Winningham had a pair of triples. Dominique Dawson and Nick Delgado also had two hits apiece for UWA.

"Offense was the key today," UWA coach Gary Rundles said. "Our approach was a lot better. We made them throw us a lot of pitches after we got two strikes.

"Our one, two and three hitters are among the best we've ever had. They complement each other," Rundles said. "When we get the bottom half to come around, we have a chance to score a lot of runs."

Delgado opened the scoring for the Tigers, hitting the first pitch he saw out of the ballpark for the second time in three games. The Tigers put up 13 runs in the first four innings and never looked back.

Lincoln Stubbs, Ryan Hughes, Luke Latham and Tyler Sims all got their first hit as a UWA player. Latham took his deep to left field for his first home run.

West Alabama starter Layton Dill (1-0) earned the pitching win, allowing three runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out two. GSW starter Jordan McIlwain took the loss, allowing six runs on six hits in just 1.1 innings of work.

West Alabama travels to Corner High School on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game against Miles College.
