Tigers Drop Tough Match to #18 Palm Beach Atlantic

ORLANDO, Fla. – The West Alabama Tigers fought hard but the 18th ranked Palm Beach Atlantic proved tough and defeated UWA 3-1 in the opening match of the Gulf South Conference/Sunshine State Conference South Region Crossover Friday afternoon on the campus of Rolling College.
 
The Tigers now sit at 17-6 on the season while PBA improves to 20-3 on the year.
 
Kassie Till posted 35 assists, five kills four service aces, eight digs and a block to lead the team.
 
Despite the offense not being as crisp for the team as usual, the freshman Jessica Akiona posted a double-double with 10 kills and 18 digs while adding two assists and a service ace.
 
Jaime Lancellot led the team with 12 kills while Madison Cooler posted 11 kills. Taylor Donato finished just outside a double-double of her on with nine kills and nine digs.
 
Alex Fuelling tied for the match lead with 24 digs while Bret Luther led the Tigers with four blocks in the match.
 
West Alabama will pull double duty tomorrow as the Tigers will face Lynn University at 11:15 a.m. CDT and Barry University at 6 p.m. CDT and the second day of the two-week tournament. Links to live stats for both games are available on uwaathletics.com.
