Tigers Win Important Match over Lee, 2-1

LIVINGSTON, Ala.– The West Alabama Tigers grabbed a crucial win in the race to solidify a post season spot, earning a 2-1 victory over the Lee Flames Sunday afternoon in Gulf South Conference Men's Soccer action.
 
UWA moves to 7-6-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the GSC. Lee falls to 8-5-3 on the season and 6-3-2 in the conference.
 
"Our boys started with a lot of intensity, we high pressed and everyone was working as a unit," said Head coach Matthew Thorne. "We brought that fight and grit you need in the Gulf South Conference to win." 
 
Adam Zayed scored his first goal as a Tiger at the 8:06 mark with an assist from Kyle McLeod
 
After a goal from Lee's Jared McWhorter to even the score, Ali Brador scored his 11th goal of the season at the 64:31 mark with an assist from Harrison Roberts to give UWA the 2-1 final lead.
 
Ollie Harrison finished the contest with 11 saves. 
 
The Tigers wrap the regular season Thursday night with a GSC match against Alabama-Huntsville. The squad will recognize its senior members that night with the match scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in Livingston, Ala.
