Tigers Rebound with Sweep of AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The West Alabama Tigers returned to their winning ways with a sweep over the Auburn-Montgomery Warhawks in Gulf South Conference Volleyball action Saturday afternoon.

"Yesterday was an extremely tough loss for our program. We knew what was at stake and although we played well, we beat ourselves and didn't give them our best version," said Head coach Alexis Meeks. "Today's goal was to rebound from that and still push towards our goals for the season. We passed the ball well today and our offense was firing on all cylinders. We controlled the game and the pace and that was the goal. I am proud of our program for not letting losses define us this season and continually getting better and striving to take one game at a time. We are looking forward to finishing conference strong!"

UWA improves to 19-8 on the season and 11-3 in the GSC. AUM falls to 10-19 overall and 1-13 in the conference.

The Tigers won the first set 25-17, the second set 25-18 and the third set 25-12.

UWA's offense finished with an efficient .371 hitting percentage.

Taylor Donato led the way with 14 kills while Madison Cooler finished right behind her with 10 kills. Kassie Till put up 33 assists in the match.

Rebecca Johnson led the back row with 13 digs while Donato led the front line with three blocks in the contest.

The Tigers will finally return home after a month on the road when they host Valdosta State on Nov. 2 in Pruitt Hall. The Blazers claimed a 3-1 victory in their previous meeting on Sept. 29.
