Tigers Dominant in Sweep of UAH in GSC Tournament Semifinals

PENSACOLA, Fla.– The second seeded West Alabama Tigers swept the #6 Seed Alabama-Huntsville Chargers in convincing fashion to advance to the Gulf South Conference Volleyball Championship Semifinals Saturday evening at the UWF Field House.
 
UWA improves to 22-8 on the season while UAH will likely end its season at 23-11.
 
West Alabama won set one 25-18, set two 25-12 and set three 25-18.
 
Jessica Akiona finished with a double-double as the GSC Freshman of the Year tallied 10 kills and 25 digs. Jaime Lancellot led the Tigers with 12 kills. Taylor Donato put up nine kills and 13 digs and Madison Cooler added eight kills.
 
The GSC Setter of the Year Kassie Till finished with 34 assists and three well placed kills. Donato led the front line with three blocks.
 
UWA advances to the championship round for the first time since 2009 and the fourth time in program history.
