"We played really hard in the first quarter, but we still have a lot to work on," UWA head coach Rusty Cram said. "Our inside game was good at times and we are starting to see a pretty good freshman point guard coming along."

Kierra Groce and Tazsa Garrett-Hammett scored 18 points apiece to lead the West Alabama attack. Garrett-Hammett was one rebound short of her first double-double of the season. Groce collected seven boards for the Tigers.

"Tazsa played better and Kierra had a good game tonight," Cram said. "We will always enjoy a win, but we have things to get better at before we hit the road Friday."
