Tigers Fall in Exhibition to UAB, 77-47

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.– In a matchup of two in-state programs, the West Alabama Tigers lost an exhibition contest against the UAB Blazers Sunday evening at the Bartow Arena.
 
UAB took a 37-25 lead to the half and outscored UWA 40-22 in the second half to push to the 77-47 final.
 
Ricky Dunnaway finished as the leading scorer for the Tigers with 10 points and he also tied for the time lead with four rebounds. LaJuan Hardy and Charles Tripp also each grabbed four rebounds.
 
UWA shot 29.5 percent (13-of-44) from the floor, 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from the three-point line and 88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the free throw line.
 
UAB was led by a trio of Blazers in double figures. Zack Bryant was the high scorer for the group with 14 points while Jeremiah Bell added 13 points and Lewis Sullivan scored 11 points. Will Butler led in rebounding with eight boards.
 
The Blazers outrebounded the Tigers 35-24.
 
West Alabama returns to regular season action Tuesday against Miles College in Fairfield, Alabama. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
