Men’s Basketball Steps Out of Conference against Paine College

LIVINGSTON, Ala.– The West Alabama Tigers step out of Gulf South Conference competition tomorrow to face the Paine College Lions of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in Pruitt Hall with tipoff set for 7 p.m.

The Tigers enter the weekend contest 5-2 on the season and riding a five-game winning streak after defeating Miles College on Dec. 4 by the score of 57-54. Paine comes to Livingston, Alabama with a 1-7 record after falling on the road 79-64 at USC-Aiken.

Josh Fleming serves as the leading scorer for UWA. The senior guard has averaged 11.8 points a contest and 3.6 boards this season. Ricky Dunnaway is now averaging double figures with 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds a contest. DeAndre Harper serves as the leading rebounder at seven rebounds a game while LaJuan Hardy leads the team and sits fourth in the GSC at 5.0 assists a game.

As a team, West Alabama is averaging 63.6 points per game and boast the best defensive unit in the country and holding opponents to 63.3 points a contest.

Cameron Gaines leads the Lions with 13.8 points per game with 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game. Fadil Robinson serves as the leading rebounder at 6.7 rebounds a contest. Khalen Pinkett leads in assists (3.1) and steaks (2.1) while averaging 7.6 points a game.
