West Alabama and UWG Set for Monday Night GSC Hoops

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Only one game stands between the West Alabama Men's Basketball team and the Holiday break and Tigers hope to enter the vacation with a Gulf South Conference win as the West Georgia Wolves come to town Monday night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
 
UWA now rides a seven-game winning streak and is 7-2 overall and 3-0 in the GSC after a 69-52 victory over the Shorter Hawks Saturday night in Pruitt Hall. The Tigers overcame a four-point deficit to grab a 17-point win.
 
The Wolves stumbled on the road and at suffered an 88-62 defeat at the hands of the Montevallo Falcons. UWG sits at 6-4 on the season and 2-1 in the conference after the loss.
 
Marquil Smith leads the conference and is fifth in all of NCAA Division II in scoring at an average of 26.9 points per game and also leads the Wolves in rebounding at 7.7 boards a game. Greg James averages 12.6 points; Gerald Blount is at 11.5 points and 6.8 rebounds and Karlos Odum is scoring 10 points with 4.7 rebounds. Aren Ulmer is second in the conference in assists per game (5.8).
 
Josh Fleming has reestablished himself as the leading scorer for the Tigers with an average of 12.6 per game. Ricky Dunnaway is right behind him at 12.1 and is the team's leading rebounder at 7.1 boards per contest. LaJuan Hardy holds steady as the leading assist maker at 5.4 assists a game which is good for fourth in the GSC.
