Tigers Handle Business with Win over Reinhardt

LVINGSTON, Ala.Charles Tripp went for a season high 23 points and led the West Alabama Tigers to an 80-58 victory over the Reinhardt University Eagles in Men's Basketball action Sunday evening in Pruitt Hall Gym. 
 
"We were anxious to play again and came out and did a much better job with our execution offensively especially in the first half," said Head coach Allen Sharpe. "We worked hard over the break to be able to score the ball in the half court and it looked better tonight."
 
UWA improves to 8-3 on the season with win while Reinhardt falls to 6-8 overall.
 
The Tigers rook a 41-25 lead to the half, won the second half as well 39-33 on the way to a 80-58 final score.
 
Alongside the side the season high in points, Tripp added six rebounds, two steals and a block. Tyrus Grayson notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds while Deandre Harper added 11 points, three rebounds and a block and LaJuan Hardy finished with 10 points and four assists.
 
The Tigers dominated on the boards and won the rebound battle 43-30. UWA also won in the paint 24-8 and never trailed in the contest.
 
Three Eagles finished in double figures led by 14 points from Michael Mays while Latroy Strong scored 13 and Samuel Bunkley added 12.
 
UWA returns to action Jan. 5 in Gulf South Conference action against a top ten Valdosta State Blazers team.
 
"We wanted to have a game in this slot before we head on the road to Valdosta this Saturday," said Sharpe.
 
The contest against the Blazers is set for 2 p.m. CST and will be broadcast on ESPN 104.9 with link to live stats available on uwaathletics.com.
