Tigers Lose Second Straight, Fall 85-82 to UWG on Senior Day

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Each time the West Alabama Tigers got close, the West Georgia Wolves found a way to pull away and did just enough to come away with an 85-82 victory to spoil Senior Day in Pruitt Hall Saturday evening in Gulf South Conference Men's Basketball action.
 
UWA dropped its second straight game to fall to 19-8 overall and 13-6 in the GSC. UWG improves to 13-13 and 8-11 in the conference.
 
Twice in the second half, the Tigers cut the Wolves down to a single digit lead just for West Georgia to re-extend it to over 10 points. West Alabama got the lead to just one with three seconds left, but two free-throws from William Sides provided the extra space needed for UWG win.
 
The Wolves were simply hot from the field and difficult to stop and finished 50 percent from the from the field on 30 of 60 shooting. Just as impressive, UWG went 6 of 16 from behind the arc to keep the Tigers at bay.
 
Meanwhile, the Tigers were 41 percent from the floor on 28 of 68 shooting and connected on 19 of 27 free throws for a 70 percent mark at the charity stripe.
 
Charles Eaton led all scorers with 28 points and added four steals. Josh Fleming scored 22 points, dished five assists and grabbed three rebounds. Gavin Robinson contributed 19 points and eight rebounders. Domonique Alexander led on the boards with nine rebounds and added four blocks to extend his conference lead in that category.
 
Sides led UWG with 26 points including an 8 for 8 mark at the free throw line and distributed six assists. Marquill Smith scored 18, Vinko Glavan added 12 and Glenn Robinson chimed in with 10 points to round the Wolves in double-digits.
 
West Alabama wraps the regular season Thursday on the road against the North Alabama Lions in Florence. Tipoff for that contest is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Flowers Hall and will be broadcast on ESPN 104.9.
