CLEVELAND, Tenn.Ben Dalke had four hits for West Alabama as the Tigers split a Gulf South Conference doubleheader with Lee Friday at Olympic Field. UWA won the opener, 3-1, and the Flames won the nightcap by the same score.

West Alabama (3-9, 1-1) scored single runs in the fourth fifth and ninth innings and then held off a late Lee (5-9, 1-1) rally to secure the win in game one. The Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second game, but Lee scratched out single runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings to earn the split.

Stephon Moore (2-2) pitched six innings of shutout baseball, scattering three hits, walking four and striking out six to earn the UWA win in game one. Layton Dill earned his first save by pithing the final three innings, allowing a run on three hits and escaping a self-imposed bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth. Starter Eric Freeman (1-2) was the loser for Lee.

Lee starter Pat Morrow (2-0) allowed a run on four hits over six innings to earn the game two win. UWA starter JT Salter (0-1) absorbed the loss.

A Ryan Hughes sacrifice fly chased Luke Phillips, who had singled to begin the fifth. Dalke doubled and then scored on a double by Brock Montgomery to wrap up Tiger scoring in the first game. Lee's only run came when Tyler Payne drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning.

West Alabama opened the scoring in game two when Austin Moffett doubled and scored on a Dalke single. After tying the game in the bottom of the first, Lee took the lead for good on a solo home run by Jordan Howard, his second of the year, to open the fifth inning.
