Tigers Shut Spring Hill Out in Non-Conference Game

MOBILE, Ala. – Four West Alabama pitchers allowed just three hits and the Tigers pounded out 12 hits on the way to a 12-0 college baseball victory over Spring Hill Wednesday at Historic Stan Galle Field.
 
West Alabama improved to 6-11 with the win. Spring Hill dropped to 3-10.
 
Cole Waites (1-3) worked six innings for the pitching win, allowing no runs and three hits while striking out six and walking one. Nathan Nicolosi, Leighton Lary and JC Redden all worked a scoreless inning in relief. Redden struck out the side in the ninth.
 
Anthony Fell (0-1), one of eight Spring Hill pitchers, took the loss, giving up all five runs on two hits.
 
The Tigers broke open a scoreless game in the top of the fourth, pushing across five runs on an RBI double by Ben Dalke, a two-run double from Lincoln Stubbs and a two-run single by Ryan Hughes.
 
A pinch hit double from Gavin Rogers drove in two runs in the seventh inning. Rogers then scored on a passed ball to widen the Tiger lead to 8-0. Jonathan Thibodeau was hit by a pitch to start the eighth and was chased home by Dalke to stretch the advantage to 9-0.
 
John Watkins capped Tiger scoring with a three-run double in the ninth inning.
 
Dalke had three hits to pace the UWA offensive attack and now has five multiple-hit games. Luke Phillips chipped in two hits as 18 different Tigers got at least one at bat in the game.
 
West Alabama returns to Gulf South Conference play with a single game Friday at Auburn-Montgomery. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. Spring Hill travels to Florida Tech to begin a three-game set with a Saturday doubleheader.
