Cooler, Lancellot Combine for 30 Kills, Tigers Sweep CBU

LIVINGSTON, Ala.Madison Cooler accounted for 17 kills and Jaime Lancellot notched 13 kills as the West Alabama Tigers took care of the Christian Brothers Lady Buccaneers with a 3-0 sweep in Gulf South Conference Volleyball action Thursday night in Pruitt Hall.

"We have got to continue to work on consistency throughout an entire set and an entire match," said Head coach Alexis Meeks. "We had moments of brilliance where we racked up a ton of points and then we would string a lot of bad points together to even out the set or let them come close. CBU is a very scrappy team and I was impressed with their fight throughout the whole match and it's a great learning experience for us on how to play a whole game instead of spurts."

UWA improves to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the GSC. CBU falls to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the conference.

The Tigers won 25-22, 25-17 and 25-20 to send the Livingston, Alabama crowd home pleased.

Kassie Till helped Cooler and Lancellot produce those kills with 37 assists.

Defensively, Lancellott played had a strong performance as well with five blocks. Rebecca Johnson led the backrow with 17 digs.

"I was very impressed with our blocking tonight and thought Jaime and Bret did an outstanding job of commanding our front row," said Meeks.

West Alabama will hit the road for a GSC match against Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.

"We will continue to grow throughout the season and I know it's going to take more time to put all the puzzle pieces together and we are being patient with that process," said Meeks.

The match is set to start at 6 p.m. Links to live stats and live video will be available on uwaathletics.com.
