Florida National Hands UWA First Home Loss of Season, 1-0

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Florida National Conquistadors controlled the ball and kept the West Alabama Tigers' attack quiet in grabbing a 1-0 victory in Tiger Stadium Thursday night, handing UWA a rare home loss.

"We're never pleased to lose a game, especially in Tiger Stadium but I have to give credit to Florida National," said Head coach Matthew Thorne. "They're probably one of the best teams in the nation across the board. Overall pleased with the performance. I don't like to lose, but we got a lot of men in this game that normally don't get to play. They stepped up and performed very well against quality competition."

West Alabama falls to 4-3-1 on the season while Florida National improves to 10-1 overall.

FNU took 27 shots with 14 being on goal while UWA took eight shots total with five being shots on goal.

The lone goal in the contest came at the 32:41 when Rodrigo Costa scored a goal off an assist from Martin Marijuan.

Austin Salazar registered 10 saves all coming in the second half.

The Tigers return to action Oct. 1 with a road contest against Lander University. The match in Greenwood, South Carolina is set to begin 6 p.m. CDT with a link to live stats available on uwaathletics.com.
