Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Tigers Prevail in Battle with UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.LaJuan Hardy made a crucial layup with 10.4 seconds left and the defense did its part at the other end to give the West Alabama Tigers the final stop needed to earn a 65-64 victory over the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers Thursday night in Spargin Hall in Gulf South Conference Men's Basketball action.

UWA improves to 11-5 overall and 6-3 in the conference. UAH falls to 12-5 and 5-4 in the GSC.

"Our games are ridiculous. When our games are over, it's like we're drained, and we need two or three days to recover. Every we have game is so tough, and we need time to recover" said Head coach Allen Sharpe. "A guy told me a long time ago short of getting married and the birth of your kids, there's nothing better than getting a conference win on the road. Feels good to get a win here."

Hardy finished with a game high 22 points along with five rebounds and four assists to lead the Tigers.

"There's times in a game where you have to have a player who make a play out of nothing and he did that several times in the second half," said Sharpe about Hardy. "We called a set, he'd run it and UAH would defend it. Then it comes down to having a guy who can just make plays. Those kinds of guys can make you look like a good coach. It has nothing to do with coaching. He made some big plays for us down the stretch scoring the ball."

Josh Fleming also scored in double figures with 15 points while Ricky Dunnaway led on the boards with seven rebounds.

Seth Swalve led UAH with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists while Dalton Barkley scored 13 points.

West Alabama continues the road trip Saturday afternoon against the Lee University Flames who grabbed a win over Montevallo tonight. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. CST.
