Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Four Tigers in Double Figures for UWA Win over AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala.– Team ball was the name of the game as four Tigers scored in double figures to lead West Alabama to a 69-58 victory over the Auburn-Montgomery Warhawks Monday night in Gulf South Conference Men's Basketball action at the AUM Athletics Complex.

UWA improves to 9-4 on the season and 4-2 in GSC play while AUM falls to 5-9 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

"We were really concerned, especially with the way we lost Saturday," said Head coach Allen Sharpe. "We were worried a letdown and the way that game started, we thought we had that led down. They led 10-2 at one point. We got in a groove and get ahead by halftime. We responded and did well."

The big guys came to play in the paint tonight as Ricky Dunnaway led with 16 points and eight rebounds and Charles Tripp added 10 points and seven rebounds. DeAndre Harper hrabbed a team leading 10 rebounds

"We had a very uncomfortable talk about their production as of late. It hadn't been good," said Sharpe about Dunnaway and Tripp. "They responded and did well. Those two guys are two of the most offensively talented big men in the league and we have them both on our team. They stepped up tonight and did much better."

The guards did their part as well as Josh Fleming scored 12 points and Darron Johnson scored 11 points all in the second half. LaJuan Hardy led the game with 10 assists to go along with six rebounds and five points.

The Tigers led 39-26 at the half and got by as much as 19 points with about four minutes to go before clinching the 69-58 victory.

UWA will have a few days to prepare for Christian Brothers who come into Pruitt Hall for a Thursday night GSC contest with tip off set for 7:30 p.m in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
