Tigers Fall in Four Sets to Wolves

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Volleyball team dropped the first two sets before claiming the third. However, the Tigers fell short and lost in the fourth and final set to the West Georgia Wolves in Gulf South Conference action Friday night in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
 
UWA falls to 5-14 overall and 0-5 in the GSC while UWG moves to 10-7 on the season and 4-1 in the conference.
 
The Wolves won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20 respectively. West Alabama grabbed the third game 25-20, however UWG held back the Tigers and claimed the fourth and final set 25-21 to grab the victory.
 
Taylor Donato notched a double-double and led the Tigers in two categories with 14 kills and 15 digs. Ally Craig also finished with 10 kills which gave her double-digit kills for the third time in four matches. Grace Harris finished with 17 assists and Desiree Blount nearly matched her with 16 assists.
 
Rebecca Johnson added 14 digs and Heloisa Niespodzinski had 11 digs. Bret Luther had four total blocks while Craig added two blocks. Both Blount and Johnson had two service aces.
 
Carrington Terrell and Tierra White both had 13 kills to lead West Georgia while Madi Fleming ran the offense with 42 assists. White also had four solo blocks and an assist for five total blocks.
 
As a team, West Georgia put together a .221 attack percentage with 19 errors while the Tigers posted a .113 attack percentage with 27 errors.
 
UWA returns to action Sunday with Valdosta State coming to town for a GSC match. Start time is set for 1 p.m. in Pruitt Hall. Game links are available on uwaathletics.com.
