Defensive Battle Results in Tie between Tigers and Argos

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Defense was key in the University of West Alabama Men's Soccer match against the West Florida Argonauts Sunday evening in Tiger Stadium. In the end, a tie was the result between the two squads in Gulf South Conference action at 0-0.
 
UWA moves to 3-6-2 on the season and 1-3-2 in GSC competition. UWF is now 9-1-2 on the year and 5-1-2 in the league.
 
"The credit has to go to the players tonight. To bounce back like we did against one of the best teams in the nation was fantastic to see," said Head coach Ross Nelson. "Arguably you could say we deserved to win based on chances. So, all in all there are many positives to take from the game. We must take it in our stride now and look to gather momentum from this. As always we will focus on recovery for now, then move on to the next!"
 
West Florida took 14 shots compared to eight shots for the Tigers. The Argos also won shots on goal 7-5.
 
Vince Stans led with two shots and one SOG.
 
Twenty-seven fouls were committed in the contest with West Florida called for 14 infractions and UWA whistled 13 times.
 
William Blake (0-3-2) made seven saves in the contest.
