Tigers Drop Battle with Nighthawks, 2-1

DAHLONEGA, Ga.– The University of West Alabama Men's Soccer team had multiple chances at the end, but the North Georgia Nighthawks did what they had to do to defeat the Tigers, 2-1, Thursday night at the UNG Soccer Complex.

The Nighthawks scored first at the 18:51 mark with a goal from Victor Galterio assisted by Michael Walsh to give UNG the 1-0 lead which held through the half.

Paul Florian Efang scored his first of the year at the 64:31 mark off an assist from Jared Walker to tie the contest at 1-1.

However, the lead didn't hold as North Georgia took the final 2-1 lead thanks to a goal by Eren Ozer to seal the win for the Nighthawks.

UWA was very aggressive on the pitch and outshot UNG 15-9, but both teams finished with five shots on goal each. Vince Stans led with four shots and two SOGs while Kyle McCleod had three shots and an SOG.

West Alabama will have eight days to prepare for another road trip. This time it's to face Gulf South Conference foe Montevallo on October 11 at 7 p.m. Game links will be available on uwaatheltics.com.
