Tigers Drop Back and Forth Affair with Union

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Both teams battled hard and won alternating sets, but in the end the visiting Union Bulldogs grabbed a five-set victory over the University of West Alabama Volleyball team Sunday afternoon in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.
 
The Tigers are now 5-12 on the season and 0-5 in the conference. Union improves to 10-6 overall and 4-1 in the GSC.
 
UWA won the first set 27-25 while Union won the second game 25-21. The Tigers came back to win set three 25-14. However, the Bulldogs took the final two sets 25-16 and 15-10 to win the match.
 
Taylor Donato registered yet another double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs to lead four Tigers with double-digit kills. Jessica Akiona had 14 kills, Ally Craig had 13 and Bret Luther totaled 11 kills. Grace Harris totaled 47 assists to keep the offense moving.
 
Rebecca Johnson led with 15 digs and Craig had three total blocks with two solo blocks.
 
West Alabama steps out of conference play Tuesday to face Jackson State University. The match in Jackson, Mississippi is set for a 6 p.m. start.
