Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Tigers Earn Record Breaking Win over SBC, 105-18

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – In a game that started with a 33-0 run for the home team, something historic felt like it was coming, and the University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team did set history with a 105-18 win over Southeastern Baptist College Saturday evening in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium.

UWA (3-1) set new record for margin of victory with the 87-point win and held SBC to the lowest opponent score in program history.

"Games like that are hard to coach, but you always want to find ways your team got better, and I felt we did that tonight," said Head coach Allen Sharpe. "Sometimes in games like this, players can let up and lose focus on defense. Credit to our guys for stepping up and staying focused."

Five Tigers finished in double figures, led by Darron Johnson's 21 points. He also had seven rebounds and a pair of steals.

Ricky Dunnaway went for 20 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. LaJuan Hardy notched a double-double of his own with 14 points and 10 assists. The guard also added five rebounds and a pair of steals.

Mike Davis got 18 points including a 10-of-11 effort from the free throw line and added a team leading four blocks as well as six rebounds and two steals. Rene Scott had similar success at the free throw line and went 7-of-8 from the charity stripe to help him get to 11 points.

West Alabama took a 55-4 at the half and won the second half 50-14 en route to the huge 105-18 win.

The Tigers shot 53.3 percent (32-of-60) from the floor, 32 percent (8-of-25) from the three-point line and 80.5 percent (33-of-41) from the free throw line.

Trajan Fielder scored nine points to lead the Chargers.

SBC was 13.2 percent (7-of-53) from the floor, 20 percent (4-of-20) from beyond the arc and missed all three free throw attempts.
