WEST ALABAMA
The Tigers enter the contest 4-1 on the season after playing five home games to open the 2019-2020 season. UWA defeated Clark Atlanta 65-54 Thursday night.
 
MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE
The Choctaws are 2-2 so far after losing last time out on the road to Henderson State, 70-64. MC is currently 2-1 at home.
 
DELTA STATE
The Statesmen lost the first two out the gate, but now sit 3-2 on the season with the last win coming against Mississippi University for Women, 69-55, Monday night.
 
COACHES
Allen Sharpe is 90-64 in his sixth season at West Alabama, 366-161 in 18 seasons as a head coach. Mike Nienaber is 3-2 in his first season at Delta State, 592-510 in 26 seasons as a head coach. Mike Jones is 334-105 in his 17th season at Mississippi College, 446-125 in 21 years as a head coach.

FIX THE HISTORY BOOKS
West Alabama has seen records fall in these first five games including the largest margin of victory (+87 vs. Southeastern Baptist College) and lowest opponent point total (18 vs. SBC). Last Thursday, LaJuan Hardy became the second player in UWA history to record a triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Clark Atlanta.
 
DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Just like last season, the UWA defense is atop the rankings as the best in the GSC with 51.2 points per game allowed and holding opponents to 33.6 percent from the floor. The Tigers also lead in steals per game (8.80), opponent turnover average (18.4 per game) and turnover margin (3.40).
 
EFFICIENT OFFENSE
While not leading the conference (6th in the league at 76.8 points per game), West Alabama is running the second most efficient, shooting 47.3 percent (129-of-273) from the floor and 40.2 percent (41-of-102) from the three-point line. 
 
WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER TEAMS
MC is scoring 76.0 points per game (8th in the league) and allowing 68.3 points per contest which is the third best average in the GSC. DSU enters the weekend the 9th best offense at 70.8 points a game and the 9th ranked defense at 76.4 points allowed per contest.
