Tigers and Hawks Tie in GSC Match

ROME, Ga. – The teams played 110 minutes of action, but neither team could score. The University of West Alabama Men's Soccer team came away with a record setting tie against the Shorter University Hawks Sunday evening in Gulf South Conference action at Ben Brady Field.
 
UWA moves to 4-8-3 on the season and 2-5-3 in the GSC. The three ties are highest in program history. Shorter is now 6-8-3 overall and 2-6-3 in the conference.
 
There wasn't a lack of effort in the West Alabama attack as the Tigers took 28 shots throughout the match and limited Shorter to eight. UWA also took an 18-4 edge in shots on goal.
 
Maxime Correia led with seven shots with David Nascimento turning in five shots and Kyle McLeod putting up four shots. Nascimento, McLeod and Kiaran Maule each put up three SOGs.
 
As a result of the aggressive UWA attack, Shorter's Matthew Shorrocks finished with 17 saves which sets a new mark in opposing goalkeeper saves.
 
William Blake (1-5-3) finished with four saves in the tie.
 
West Alabama will wrap the regular season November 8 against Alabama Huntsville. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m. with game links available on uwaathletics.com.
