The Series
The Tigers hit the road for a three-game series at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia.

West Alabama

West Alabama pounded out 16 hits on the way to a 15-3 win over Georgia Southwestern on Feb. 12, 2017 in Americus, Georgia. Dylan Little had four hits for the Tigers, including a double and a triple. Nick Delgado and Luke Latham homered for the Tigers. Layton Dill allowed three runs and seven hits through five innings for the pitching win. Jordan McIlwain allowed six runs on six hits over 1.1 innings for the loss. Will Reading and Jared Jones had two hits each for GSW.

The Tigers and Hurricanes have played 14 times since 2011. West Alabama holds an 11-3 advantage in the series.

Hitting
West Alabama heads into weekend two of the season as the second-best batting average in the Gulf South Conference at .292. Tiger third baseman Trevor Smeeton is second in the league in hitting with a .636 average after getting seven hits in the opening series.

RBI
UWA first baseman Taylor Clemmons is tied for the GSC lead in runs batted in with seven. He had six in his first game as a Tiger, a 10-6 win over Columbus State.

Streaks
Tiger centerfielder Jaylon Keys and third baseman Trevor Smeeton have started the season with a three-game hitting streak. Second baseman Ryan Hughes carried a one-game streak into the season, so with hits in both games he played at Columbus State, also has a three-game shitting streak.
