West Alabama
West Alabama is 9-6 after sweeping a non-conference doubleheader with Miles College at Rickwood Field in Birmingham Wednesday. UWA is 3-4 in GSC play.
 
Montevallo
Montevallo is 7-12 overall and 4-5 in GSC play. The Falcons last outing was a 5-0 win over Tuskegee at home on Wednesday.
 
Last Time
Montevallo won two of three from the Tigers to close the 2018 season, winning the first two games 15-0 and 5-1. UWA won game three of the series, 3-2, with all three games played at Tartt Field in Livingston.

Waite GSC Pitcher of the Week
West Alabama right-hander Cole Waites earned Gulf South Conference pitcher of the Week honors for his performance at West Georgia on Monday. The junior from Lawrenceville, Georgia, flirted with a no-hitter on the road against the Wolves. He did not allow a hit until one out in the eighth inning. In 7.1 innings Waites allowed a single and a run, striking out nine and walking seven.

Tiger starting pitcher Cole Waites comes into the weekend as the Gulf South Conference leader in strikeouts with 44.
 
Smeeton GSC Player of the Week, NCBWA Region Hitter of the Week
After picking up Gulf South Conference player of the week honors for batting a blistering .778 in West Alabama's series at West Georgia, Tiger infielder Trevor Smeeton was also named the National College Baseball Writers Association South Region Hitter of the Week. After the opening game of the series was rained out, the senior from Castle Rock, Colorado, went 7-for-9 in the remaining two games of the series, getting six straight hits at one point. He also drove in four runs.

The owner of a five-game hitting streak, Trevor Smeeton is 12-for-21 over those games, a hefty .571 average. He is currently third in the GSC in hitting with a .458 batting average and is tied for the league lead in hits with 27. He is fifth in the league with a .536 on base percentage.
