Scholars, Seniors Honored During Annual Banquet

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama Athletics Department held its annual Senior Banquet Monday night in the Bell Conference Center on the UWA campus to honor the senior student-athletes of each sport and to celebrate academic achievements.
 
In all, 81 seniors were honored for their contributions to UWA Athletics with framed letters while 27 earned a Scholar-Athlete Medallion, which is presented to those who graduated with at least a 3.0 grade point average and finished their playing eligibility at UWA.
 
Twenty-two select student-athletes were inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes college student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full time semester, and earn a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average.

Even though some sports are still in season, UWA's Spring Commencement ceremony is set for May 4 in Pruitt Hall Gymnasium on the UWA campus.
