Tigers Ninth in USTFCCCA South Region Preseason Poll

NEW ORLEANS – The University of West Alabama men's cross country team is ranked ninth in the 2019 preseason United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II South Region poll.
 
The Tigers are one of four Gulf South Conference teams in the regional preseason top 10. Lee sits atop the poll, while Alabama Huntsville is fourth and Mississippi College fifth. UWA was picked fifth in the 2019 GSC preseason poll.
 
West Alabama finished ninth at the 2018 regional meet in Lakeland, Florida. Jakob Bernal crossed the finish line fourth at the regional meet last season, qualifying for the NCAA National Championships, where he finished 138th in a field of 261 runners.
