Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Last Minute Goal Leads to 2-1 Win for Tigers Over Flagler

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.– Another late goal, this time in regulation, gave the West Alabama Men's Soccer team the edge needed to defeat the Flagler College Saints 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Saints Field.

Kyle McLeod scored the winning goal with a final pass from David Nascimento at the 89:08 mark in the match to give UWA (2-1-0) the late lead.

It was the second goal McLeod was involved in on the say as junior forward assisted on Ben Walker's score which came at the 10:26 mark.

Dan McGuire hit the equalizing goal for the Saints at 1-1 at the 84:40 spot with an assist from Joran Osland which would've forced extra time had McLeod and Nascimento not combined for the last-minute score.

Both defenses played tough with Flagler taking a slight edge in shots 8-6, however all of UWA's shots were on goal and took a 6-4 edge in the category.

Cosmas Uzoaru (2-0-0) received the start in the goal and finished with three saves.

West Alabama hosts Florida National for an exhibition Wednesday at 7 p.m. before returning to NCAA Division II competition on the road against Clayton State in Morrow, Georgia Saturday at 6 p.m. Game links to both contests will be available on uwaathletics.com.
