UWA Drops Road Match against #19 Clayton State

MORROW, Ga.– The Clayton State Lakers, ranked 19th in the nation, protected Laker Field well as they turned back the University of West Alabama Men's Soccer team Saturday evening and came away with a 3-0 win over the Tigers.
 
UWA (2-2) was limited to seven shots with three being on goal in the loss while CSU took 19 shots and finished with 10 SOGs.
 
Ignacio Perez scored at the 32:47 mark with an assist from Olavo Guimaraes. Brad Kay got an assist from Theo Blachon to give at the 35:43 spot to give Clayton State a 2-0 lead at the half. Geo Rios scored the final goal at 82:03 with an assist from Mitro Turunen to reach the 3-0 final score.
 
Vince Stans and Kyle McLeod both finished with two SOGs to lead the Tigers.
 
Cosmas Uzoaru (2-1-0) made 11 saves in the loss.
 
West Alabama will look to refocus and prepare for the Gulf South Conference opener which will be at home against Mississippi College. Match time in Tiger Stadium is for 6 p.m. Game links are available on uwaathletics.com.
