Tigers Drop Heartbreaker on Road to AUM

MONTGOMERY, Ala.– Rallying from a 2-1 deficit, the University of West Alabama Volleyball team had the lead in the fifth and deciding set but couldn't hold on and fell to the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks Friday night in the AUM Athletics Complex in Gulf South Conference action.

UWA falls to 5-9 overall and 0-2 in the GSC. The Warhawks move to 7-4 and 1-1 in the league.

"We did some things better, offensively tonight, getting more attackers on the board, but we are still looking to be more consistent and finish sets," said Head coach Hilary Lobenstein.

The Tigers won the first set 25-15 before dropping the second and third sets to AUM 25-23 each. UWA won the fourth game 25-21 before falling in the fifth, 17-15.

Four Tigers finished with double-digit kills led by Taylor Donato with 21 kills and coupled with 18 digs notched another double-double. Bret Luther totaled 14 kills while Jessica Akiona and Ally Craig both got 13 kills. Akiona also had 18 kills to get her a double-double.
